Architrave is the moulding that frames a door or window opening - the trim that covers the joint between the door lining and the plaster wall, and gives the opening its finished edge. In a well-detailed room, it does more than that: it ties the joinery scheme together, sets the character of the space, and should read consistently with the skirting boards and any other mouldings throughout. We make ours from MDF at our workshop in Epsom. Victorian profiles for period properties, modern flat profiles for contemporary interiors, flexible versions for curved openings, and fire-rated MDF for commercial and multi-occupancy projects.
