Glass Lamp Shades are authentic copies of the fundamental styles used on vintage lighting. They were often used with a lamp chimney . Clear glass chimneys originated from the need to contain the flame on oil burning lamps of the 1800's. These chimneys were then topped with a lampshade. The most popular types are student lampshades and ball shades. They provide a large glass area to illuminate producing a good size light when lit. These antique style lamp shades are offered in white, dark green & hand painted options. As we moved into the 20th century two glass shade styles became popular for electric lamps.
