The Art Deco style flourished in the period between the two world wars. It marked a deliberate departure from the ornate style of Victorian and Edwardian design. Featuring, as it did, geometry, symmetry, modernity, and luxury. Typical designs were based around chevrons, zigzags, stepped forms, parallel lines, fans, sunbursts and geometric flowers.
