Thushi is a traditional Maharashtrian necklace made of multiple strands of intricately woven small beads made of pure gold. It is a sign of prosperity and fertility, as the beads represent sorghum or jowar crops that the state grows in abundance. The name itself means “small gold beads” in Marathi. The necklace sits close to the neck, above the collarbone, and is therefore also identified as a choker-style necklace.
