Timers are useful for practing speedcubing as they mimic the actual competition experience, timers have two sensor pads, one for each hand, which means you must put both hands on the timer and then take them off for the timer to start, to stop the timer you must then put both hands back on the timer, this means that you cannot be touching the cube when starting or stopping the timer.
